Assets & equipment

Springbok deploys 17 assets on site: 6 front-end loaders, 9 maintenance units and 2 support vehicles.

Springbok Siding operates one of Barberry's largest dedicated front-end loader fleets, supporting a multi-pad facility with over R15 million invested in infrastructure. The siding comprises two loading pads — including a newer pad developed by Lurco with a 25 000 t storage capacity designed for multiple users and product grades.

  • 6 front-end loaders — 4 x CAT 966L and 2 x RB FEL units
  • CAT Roller, CAT SS, Doosan Excavator and RB Dozer for site maintenance
  • Dual generator set — 100 KVA and 6.5 KVA on-site power backup
  • CAT Grader and GELH TLB for stockpile and road maintenance
  • Computerised weighbridge system (Com PS WB-Springbok)
  • Digital Train loading data capturing through our smart devices installed on all loading equipment

Technology in our operations

We keep looking for better ways to run our sidings. Digital tools now support how we plan, load and release trains, giving our teams and clients more accurate information, faster turnaround and safer operations. We keep testing and adopting new technology wherever it improves the service we deliver.

Security & weighbridge controls

Springbok Siding operates under Barberry's full security and stock integrity protocols. All incoming and outgoing product movements are independently verified to ensure tonnage accuracy, cargo integrity and complete audit trail compliance for siding owners, clients and financiers.

  • Certified computerised weighbridge for inbound truck and outbound wagon measurement
  • Independent tonnage reconciliation — trucks received vs wagons dispatched
  • Access control at all siding entry and exit points
  • 24-hour security presence and CCTV monitoring
  • Proof of Delivery (POD) sign-off with TFR for all train movements
  • Daily security and tonnage reports submitted to siding owner and client
