Assets & equipment
Samlog Bulk Terminal deploys a total complement of 5 assets for intermodal handling at Kazerne.
Located at Kazerne, Transnet's established container terminal adjacent to City Deep in Johannesburg. The Container Corridor rails directly between the Port of Durban and inland Gauteng terminals, making this a key interchange between coastal ports and the Gauteng economic hub.
- 2 front-end loaders deployed for transfer handling
- Skid steer for yard and pad maintenance
- Support equipment assigned to terminal operations
Technology in our operations
We keep looking for better ways to run our sidings. Digital tools now support how we plan, load and release trains, giving our teams and clients more accurate information, faster turnaround and safer operations. We keep testing and adopting new technology wherever it improves the service we deliver.
Security & transfer controls
Samlog Bulk Terminal operates under Barberry's full security and cargo integrity protocols. Intermodal transfers at Kazerne are independently verified to protect cargo integrity and maintain a complete audit trail for terminal users, clients and financiers — without the bulk-coal weighbridge controls used at stockpile sidings.
- Access control at all terminal entry and exit points
- Cargo integrity checks on inbound road and outbound rail movements
- Independent verification of transfer volumes and unit counts
- 24-hour security presence and CCTV monitoring
- Proof of Delivery (POD) sign-off with TFR for all train movements
- Daily security and movement reports submitted to the terminal owner and client
