Assets & equipment
Newcon Terminal deploys a total complement of 4 assets suited to intermodal transfer rather than bulk stockpiling.
The facility sits in the Newcastle industrial area and handles road-to-rail transfer on the Richards Bay Coal Line — a lean asset footprint matched to interchange rather than stockpile operations.
- 2 front-end loaders deployed for road-to-rail transfer handling
- Support vehicle assigned to day-to-day terminal operations
Technology in our operations
We keep looking for better ways to run our sidings. Digital tools now support how we plan, load and release trains, giving our teams and clients more accurate information, faster turnaround and safer operations. We keep testing and adopting new technology wherever it improves the service we deliver.
Security & transfer controls
Newcon Terminal operates under Barberry's full security and cargo integrity protocols. Road-to-rail transfers are independently verified to protect cargo integrity and maintain a complete audit trail for terminal users, clients and financiers — without the bulk-coal weighbridge controls used at stockpile sidings.
- Access control at all terminal entry and exit points
- Cargo integrity checks on inbound road and outbound rail movements
- Independent verification of transfer volumes and unit counts
- 24-hour security presence and CCTV monitoring
- Proof of Delivery (POD) sign-off with TFR for all train movements
- Daily security and movement reports submitted to the terminal owner and client
