Our on-site siding management teams ensure full compliance with Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) safety, environmental and operational standards. We coordinate every aspect of siding operations — from shunting and stockpile management to wagon spotting, train assembly and departure — freeing our clients to focus entirely on their core mining and production activities. Barberry deploys and maintains its own fleet of front-end loaders and shunting equipment, and places a dedicated terminal supervisor on site on a 24/7 basis to manage real-time coordination between the client, Transnet and Barberry's Central Technical Team.

Our siding network
Barberry currently manages 14 rail sidings across South Africa, among them Blackhill, Springbok, Broodsnyersplaas, Pullenshope, Woestalleen and Golfview. Together they handle over 11 million tonnes per annum across the network. Our sidings serve the Richards Bay Coal Line, the Maputo Corridor and several domestic supply chains, making Barberry one of South Africa's largest independent siding operators. Each siding is staffed by a dedicated Barberry team operating within a structured governance framework aligned to Transnet's Channel Logistics Team and Channel Optimisation Team processes.
